Race Details

**NOTE** YOU are responsible for knowing this course/area. Before considering the NS50 make sure you're confident in your ability to cover 15-16 miles without aid. I will mark major intersections, but there will be times on the Northshore trail where you will go miles without flagging because I assume you know the Northshore trail. There will be a pre-race briefing that you'll need to attend and LISTEN TO!

FINAL Warning! This is NOT beginner friendly. It's 50 tough, hot, partially marked miles on the Northshore of Lake Grapevine.

Date:

June 16th, 2012.

Start Time:

Sometime between 6-7AM. Depends on when Murrell Park opens the gate. Will post specifics once they're nailed down.

Start Location:

Will be off of Trail 4 Road inside Murrell Park at the end of the dirt road. (See map at the bottom) You'll go through the gates at Murrell Park and turn right. Go like you're going to go to the MADD shelter. After you turn right you'll wind around to the right and then the left. You'll take a LEFT in a 1/4 mile or so at the first opportunity. When you turn left be sure to stay to the LEFT. The road will fork and you want to take the dirt road on the left.

GPS Coordinates: 32.998542, -97.092066

Cost:

A $5 cash donation is encouraged to cover the cost of water I'll be dropping off on the course :) Other than that there is NO RACE FEE. If you'd like a race t-shirt you can look at the design on the "Awards" tab at the top of the page.

Aid Stations:

Looking at about 4 right now that you'll hit twice, not to mention whatever you leave at your car. So your car or the start/finish can count as a 5th aid station / Will be WATER ONLY / BE PREPARED TO GO 15-16 miles w/o a water stop

Drop Bags:

NO DROP BAGS on the course. You can stash food/drinks at your car at the start, but that's it. You need to be able to carry enough food for 30 or so HOT miles.

Weather:

HOT. Here's the average weather for Lake Grapevine on June 2nd.

Average High: 91 Degrees (100 Degrees in 2011)
Record High: 103 Degrees
Average Low: 71 Degrees (78 Degrees in 2011)
Record Low: 54 Degrees

No matter what it's gonna be hot. If you're not comfortable running in 95+ degree heat, DO NOT enter this race.

Cut-Off:

15 HOURS to be an official finisher.

Quitting or Dropping from the run:

If you decide to quit anywhere other than the start/finish you'll be on your own to find a ride back to the start. It's a REQUIREMENT to carry a cell phone with you at all times for this reason.
