So what is The Northshore 50 you ask?!

The Northshore 50 Fun Run has been in the back of my head for a few years now. The Northshore 50 is a 50 mile run on the entire north side of Lake Grapevine just north of Fort Worth and Dallas, Texas. I have scouted out every possible trail on the lake and the run will utilize all of these. Some road running will still be necessary, but will be less than 2.5 miles or so each way. So maybe 5 miles total out of 50. A $5 cash donation is highly recommended to cover the cost of water for the race. We will have no support other than a few water drops. You can leave a drop bag with food/water/whatever you'd like at your car.

While the course will be marked as best I can, A general knowledge of the area/course will be HIGHLY useful! I will hand out VERY detailed descriptions of the course that I recommend keeping an eye on. There will be plenty of junctions on the trails to go off the wrong way. Hopefully most of these will be marked, but there's no guarantee that another person won't take down any markings.

I'm organizing this because I want to share the beauty of this area with all those that enjoy trail running as much as I do. With that said, this run is going to be VERY minimal. I WILL mark the trail, but it is YOUR responsibility to have some general idea of where you're going.

YOU MUST have the capability to carry 80oz of water with you! NO EXCEPTIONS. It's going to be hot. Whether you carry two 40oz bottles (not possible), or one 70oz bladder and a 20oz bottle, I don't care. Just be sure you have the capability of carrying 80oz+.

YOU MUST carry a cell phone. If you decided to quit somewhere you need to be able to call me or someone to come find you. Also in case there's a medical emergency. NO EXCEPTIONS.

I will implement a system similar to the Barkley where you'll need to tear the page out of a book corresponding to your bib number. If you don't have all your pages, you will NOT be listed as an official finisher. (As the RD I have the authority to make this call on race day, in the situation a book has been moved or stolen, for example if everyone comes back and says the book was gone, then I'll take that into account)

If you doubt your ability to run 50 miles don't even think about this run. There won't be cut offs. There won't be course sweep, but as long as someone is out on the course I'll be hanging out waiting/drinking beer. (To be an official finisher you will have to finish in 15 HOURS)

This is really an event for all the north Texas trail runners to get together and just have some fun on one of our most popular trail systems in DFW. If you don't feel like running, then just hang out and enjoy the scene.

If you decide to just come out and run during the race PLEASE DO NOT drink the water that's stashed on the course for athletes racing.

Please feel free to bring any snacks and food to share post race.
